Centene's COVID-19 relief efforts share a common goal: to reduce the hardships of the pandemic on vulnerable and underserved communities while increasing access to healthcare. Centene expanded investments and introduced several new programs to meet the growing needs of our target populations while our strategic focus areas remained steady.

Among our many efforts, Centene invested in initiatives to address the social determinants of health, including food insecurity, connectivity, and access to healthcare and educational supplies. Expanding our telehealth capabilities, including extending grants to offset costs of new technology, enabled our provider network to continue caring for our members and communities. Recognizing the emotional trauma of COVID-19 will last longer than the pandemic itself, we provided additional mental health resources to those impacted by the pandemic and well into the future.

Fortune 2020 Change the World logo

Centene is honored to be included on the 2020 FORTUNE® Change the World list to recognize our relief efforts. This designation marks the third time Centene has made the prestigious list, as the company was named in 2019 for our Provider Accessibility Initiative and in 2017 for expanding coverage in Nevada.

The FORTUNE Change the World list acknowledges companies that make a positive social impact through activities that are part of their core business strategy. FORTUNE writers and editors, along with experts at the Shared Value Initiative, a global platform for organizations seeking business solutions to social challenges, evaluated potential companies on four factors: measurable social impact, business results, degree of innovation, and corporate integration.

Global Finance 2020 Outstanding Crisis Leadership

Centene was also named a Global Finance Outstanding Crisis Leadership 2020 honoree in the "Overall Excellence — Corporate" category. The program recognizes banks and companies that went above and beyond in responding to the global pandemic crisis — those who assisted their customers, protected their employees, and provided critical support to society at large.

Additionally, Centene was ranked No. 14 out of the 100 largest employers for our response to the COVID-19 pandemic by Forbes magazine. The Forbes Corporate Responders ranking assessed how well the 100 largest employers among U.S. public companies mobilized to meet the challenges of COVID-19.

Our relief efforts to date put Centene's purpose into action: transforming the health of our communities, one person at a time. Learn more about how we develop innovative local and national, and international initiatives that increase access to high-quality care on our COVID-19 Resource Center.
